Description:

The South Coast AQMD app serves as the official air quality app for residents of the South Coast Air Quality Management District, encompassing major areas of Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties. It is a government agency dedicated to monitoring and enhancing air quality for the 17 million individuals residing in the region.

With a focus on accuracy and scientific validity, this app provides real-time and forecasted air quality information from air quality experts. The data utilized is of the highest quality and relies on scientifically validated methods.

Key features of the app include:

<li>Air Quality at a Glance: Offering real-time and forecasted air quality data for up to 20 locations within the South Coast AQMD's jurisdiction. The method used for determining real-time air quality values has been developed by South Coast AQMD scientists and published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. It is notably more accurate than other approaches as it combines measurements from high-quality "regulatory" monitors, calibrated low-cost sensors, and air quality models. This feature includes readings for ozone (smog), particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), nitrogen dioxide, and carbon monoxide.</li>

<li>Detailed Air Quality Data: Providing comprehensive air quality information for each saved city, including the current and forecasted Air Quality Index (AQI), the primary pollutant of concern for each location, and health-related information. Users also have access to additional real-time data on all pollutants, yesterday's air quality data, daily highs, and historical data.</li>

<li>Interactive Air Quality Map: Offering a real-time view of air quality across the region with reporting available for over 1,200 distinct locations. Detailed air quality information can be accessed by simply tapping on a selected location.</li>

<li>Configurable Air Quality Health Notifications: Optional notifications can be set to alert users when air pollution reaches unhealthy levels in their area. Users have the flexibility to adjust the air quality notification settings to their preferences.</li>

<li>Submit Air Quality Complaints: Easily report excessive odors, smoke, dust, or other air contaminants (excluding smoking vehicles) directly through the app. This new feature is conveniently accessible through the 1-800 CUT-SMOG button. Users can file complaints and track their status directly within the app.</li>

<li>Alternative Fuel Map: Provides an interactive map displaying locations, directions, and details of natural gas, hydrogen, electric, and propane fueling stations from the Department of Energy's Alternative Fuel Stations database.</li>

<li>South Coast AQMD Announcements and Events: Allows users to stay updated on air quality alerts, announcements, and various events including Governing Board meetings, conferences, town hall meetings, and workshops.</li>

<li>Integrated Weather: Alongside air quality information, users can check real-time weather conditions for each selected location.</li>

<li>Integration with F.I.N.D (Facility INformation Detail): This feature provides easy access to public information about South Coast AQMD-regulated facilities. Leveraging an interactive map that is regularly updated at least once a week, users are able to quickly view facilities near their location by enabling location services on the mobile app.</li>
